5. Safety RepresentativesSafety and Health representatives form
a vital link between employers and employees. Their role is to enable
employers to discuss safety and health matters, and to work together
with employees to make the work place safe.While it is the employer’s responsibility
under the 2005 Act to provide and maintain a safe work environment and
safe systems of work, the law also says the employer must consult and
co-operate with Safety Rep’s and other employees about safety
and health. Similarly, the law says Safety Rep’s must consult
